Melicent Eno Humason was born in 1890 to William Lawrence Humason, Jr., and Florence Minerva Cole in New Britain, Conn. She married artist Leslie W. Lee in 1918. Settled in San Diego in 1919. Interested in Indian lore and writing, Melicent wrote articles based on her Indian friends and sources. Eventually wrote children's stories. Founded and became director of the Indian Arts League, San Diego. She died in 1943.
