Description
Scope/Content: Manuscript. Title from second title page; first title page contains less information and a shorter title. Both title pages are surrounded by decorative ink borders. 19th-century manuscript note about William Armyne laid in behind front free endpaper; 18th-century manuscript note about the Armyne-Crane wedding, for which this sermon was composed, written on page facing title page, cited as being "copied from a letter from the Rev. Herbert Smith M.A., rector of Chilton near Sudbury, Suffolk. All pages ruled in red ink.
Scope/Content: Manuscript text of a sermon delivered by minister Matthew Lawrence at the wedding of William Armyne, Jr. and Anne Chase at Chilton, Suffolk in 1649. This volume is a fine copy made for the father of the groom, Sir William Armyne, baronet, and is written in an imitation of print by John Raymond of London. A later owner has written notes on the text and fists in the margins throughout the volume.
Condition: Bound in full brown morocco with gold tooling.
