About this Collection

The Sarah Locke Family Papers is a small collection documenting the life of San Jose Normal School graduate (1879) Sarah Locke. The collection consists of books, journals, notes, a transcription of Sarah Locke's diary recording her trip to Yosemite in June of 1879, photographs of Sarah Locke's ancestors and descendents, and a family genealogy report (2004) that includes the pedigree for Sarah Locke and a list of her descendants. The collection also includes a few personal items collected by Shirley Orpha Smith, grandaughter of Sarah Locke Smith. Smith completed her BA in 1947 and received her Occupational Therapy Certificate from SJSU in 1948.

The King Library Digital collection contains all of the photographs from the Sarah Locke Family Papers. The photographs include images of Sarah Locke's family members, SJSU graduation ceremonies, and the California State Fair.
