Historic Stockton Photographs

Owning Institution: University of the Pacific

About this Collection

The City of Stockton was founded in 1849 in the Central Valley of California, eighty-three miles east of San Francisco. Stockton's location on the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Delta that feeds into San Francisco Bay has made it a major shipping port. This collection of historic photographs documents the history of Stockton with an emphasis on the waterfront and downtown areas. Most of the images are of buildings, streets, and businesses. Many aerial views of the city are also included. Images in this collection date from approximately the 1860s to the 1960s. View this collection on the contributor's website.
