About this CollectionAn extraordinary gift of twenty-seven 19th- and 20th-century photographs was given to Scripps College in 2008 by C. Jane Hurley Wilson '64 and Michael G. Wilson, who thoughtfully selected works that will enhance students' understanding of the history of photography. Among these are photographs by Diane Arbus, Anne Brigman, Julia Margaret Cameron, Gregory Crewdson, Jack Delano, Roger Fenton, Francis Frith, Arthur Kales, David Octavius Hill and Roger Adamson, Russell Lee, Margrethe Mather, John Jabez Mayall, Emily Pitchford, and Edward Weston. In addition to a core group of works by Gordon Abbott and Edward Weston, the collection includes a group of photographs of Ruth St. Denis. In addition, are photographs by Graciela Iturbide, Alfred Stieglitz, and Marion Post Wolcott. Other holdings include works by Mark Anthony, Henri Béchard, Julia Margaret Cameron, Rudolf Eikemeyer, A.E. Goddard, Jr., Consuelo Kanaga, Eadweard Muybridge, Nadar, and Doris Ulmann, which were donated in 2005 by Sharon and Michael Blasgen. Also featured are photographs by Eileen Cowin, Janet Delaney, Anthony Friedkin, Robbert Flick, George Hurrell, and Max Yavno, donated in 2006 by the Yarema Family Trust. In 2008 Scripps received a gift of 100 Polaroids and 50 silver gelatin prints by Andy Warhol, from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, as part of the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program.
