Charles Barry photo collection

Owning Institution: Santa Clara University

About this Collection

Santa Clara University (and its previous incarnations as University of Santa Clara and Santa Clara College) has been photographed by a number of photographers over the years. We have digitized and made online collections from some of them, including Charles Beebe Turrill, who documented the College during the early years of the 20th Century, and William Eymann, who captured campus life during the mid years of that century. We also have thematic online collections, including one showing historical SCU buildings over the years, and another with the photographic history of SCU from its start as a small school to the present day.

Charles (Chuck) Barry was Santa Clara University’s photographer from 1988 to 2015. During those years he took many thousands of photographs of SCU events, people, and places. We have created an online collection drawing from these. The collection is organized according to Barry’s photo shoot journal, with representative photos from those shoots. We have included only a small portion of Barry’s photos from those shoots, but other photos are available at the Archives & Special Collections Department at Santa Clara University.
