Martin Krieger Collection

About this Collection

In the first decade of the 21st century, the Haynes Foundation supported Martin Krieger and his collaborators’ photographic and aural documentation of Los Angeles in a series of grants. A portion of that digitized photographic material is included in this collection documenting 800 storefront houses of worship, 225 industrial neighborhoods, and people at work at industrial sites in Los Angeles (including the Port, LAC-USC General Hospital, and many small firms). On his own, Krieger has extensively documented housing, infrastructure (including about 150 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power electrical stations), Boyle Heights, traffic and street life, commercial strips and ethnic markets, and people on transit and bus.
