About this Collection

This collection includes the field notebooks, photographs, and documents of botanist and agronomist Wilson Popenoe. Popenoe studied avocados and other fruit and plant life, primarily in Latin America. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in the role of agricultural explorer from 1914-1925, including work with the University of California College of Agriculture. In 1925, he became chief agronomist of the United Fruit Company in Honduras. View collection guide.
