About this Collection
Records of the California Nurse Midwife Association (CNMA), professional organization for all certified nurse midwives in the state of California. CNMA partners with allied health members, patients, and community members to improve access to midwifery care, improve maternal-child health care outcomes, and to support women's health care access. The mission of the California Nurse Midwives Association is to facilitate the integration of nurse midwives into the health care system of California, promote legislation/regulations supportive of maternal child health and nurse-midwifery practices, and provide a forum for interaction with other groups sharing common maternal-child health goals. Collection includes articles of incorporation, by-laws, membership rosters, correspondence, subject files, conference files, publicity materials, reports, photographs, and audio cassettes. It also contains files related to the Nurse Obstetric Assistant (NOA) project in Madera, CA in the 1960s.
