Records documenting the formation and activity of the AIDS Office, including files of Directors of Public Health, Mervyn Silverman and David Werdegar, prior to the Office's creation in 1985, followed by successive directors of the Office itself; records from four of the five branches of the AIDS Office, including Fiscal Services, Health Services, Prevention, and Surveillance; and records documenting the contracts process, including grant requests, Request for Proposals (RFPs) from and contracts with community-based organizations, working folders, contract processing and development files, reports, and other materials. Includes substantial material on programs and organizations funded by the Ryan White CARE Act, which provides federal money for AIDS services.
