Fire, Water, Poison, Hope: California in 2023 was written and produced by 33 students taking the Fall 2023 Theatre and Ecology course at UC Merced, which was cross-listed in the English in Global Arts Studies undergraduate programs, and the graduate program in the Interdisciplinary Humanities.

The scenes and monologues that comprise this show are based on interviews conducted over the summer by four graduate students, sponsored by the Henry Luce Foundation, who talked to folks on the frontlines of environmental justice issues.
