IDEAS Performance Series
IDEAS aims to encourage interdisciplinary artists and musicians, as well as engineers and scientists to take advantage of the Qualcomm Institute’s advanced audio-visual facilities, services and personnel in staging performances and presentations of new or existing works and research. This collection contains video, still images, audio, and text, documenting past performances and presentations from the ongoing series.

IGRA Guitar Scores
The International Guitar Research Archives scores database features over one thousand public domain works from composers and arrangers across the globe. In addition to the diverse array of guitar compositions and method books spanning centuries, the database contains works for other plucked strings such as banjo, mandolin and ukelele. Scores are presented in the PDF format. Text included in the scores is searchable where applicable. Vistors are encouraged to check back frequently as the database will continue to be augmented with news scores as they are made available. Illustrated Envelopes from Joseph McNeil to Ellen Redding, c. 1925-1933
The illustrated envelopes presented here were hand-colored by Joseph Dennis McNeil, and sent, with a few exceptions, to his fiancée, Ellen Josephine Redding, who was living in Nicasio and San Rafael during their courtship. This collection spans the years 1925 to about 1933. At this time, Joseph was working for Schmidt Lithograph Company in San Francisco and then in Los Angeles. Joe and Ellen had met as youngsters in Nicasio. They were married on August 9, 1928, at St. Mary's Church in Nicasio, the same church where her own parents were married, and in which she was baptized. Joe and …

The online Image Archive, formerly known as PhotoNet, consists of more than 10,000 images, and it continues to grow. Original historic and contemporary photographs from Institute life are found here, as are documentary photos of artifacts, fine art, and rare books in our collections. Caltech history photos include most faculty and many staff members, trustees, notable visitors and other affiliated persons, along with buildings, laboratories, events, and student activities.

This collection contains a sample of images from McDowell's body of work consisting of photographs of important local dancers and dance companies, with a strong emphasis on San Francisco Ballet as she spent nearly 20 years photographing the company. The photographic materials feature such notables as Lew Christensen, Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn and several members of the San Francisco Ballet such as Carlos Carvajal, Robert Gladstein, Sally Bailey, Jocelyn Vollmar, and Michael Smuin.

This collection contains a sample of images from Katherine Kahr's body of work consisting of photographs of various local dancers and dance companies, The collection includes photographs of notable choreographers and dancers such as Alonzo King, Tina Bernal, Richard Gibson. Eiko and Koma; ethnic dance groups such as Chaksam-Pa Tibetan Dance and Opera Company and Harupin-Ha Butoh Dance Company; and dance companies such as Alonzo King LINES Ballet, Golden Gate Ballet, Palo Alto Ballet, Pacific Dance Center, Margaret Wingrove Dancers of San Jose, and Oakland Ballet.

Images from the Preserving Bay Area Dance Legacies project
Preserving Bay Area Dance Legacies presents highlights from key San Francisco Bay-Area based dancers/choreographers whose papers are a part of the Elyse Eng Dance Collection at the Museum of Performance + Design. Dancer/choreographers represented in this exhibit include Carlos Carvajal, Gary Palmer, Welland Lathrop, and June Watanabe. This collection includes images featured in the exhibit pages for these choreographers as well as images digitized from these choreographer's collections throughout the project.

Images from the Robert J. McLeod Photography Collection
This collection contains a sample of images photographed by Bob McLeod. The collection also includes some images photographed by his wife, Beth Witrogen McLeod. The body of work consists of photographs of important local and visiting dancers and dance companies, such as the San Francisco Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. Prominent dancers and choreographers featured include such notables as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Lew Christensen, Michael Smuin, and several prominent members of the San Francisco Ballet such as Joanna Berman, Evelyn Cisneros, Christopher Stowell in works by noted choreographers such as Christensen, Helgi Tomasson, George Balachine, Frederick Ashton, and Jerome Robbins.

Imperial Valley Snapshots, ca. 1903
This collection of 23 snapshots were taken circa 1903 by an unidentified photographer. The subject matter is the Imperial Valley area of California, including the towns of Brawley, Calexico, and Mexicali, and the Alamo River. The collection includes photographs of Cocopa tribe members, Mexicans, and inhabitants of Brawley. Also featured are several buildings and other types of residential structures. Typewritten captions on the verso of the photographs are lengthy and provide an informative historical and cultural context for the images. The collection provides firsthand impressions of the settlement and early history of Brawley, California....
