Walter Munk Papers: Selections
This collection includes a selection of still images, slides, and reformatted sound and moving image recordings from the papers of oceanographer Walter Munk. Walter H. Munk (1917-2018) was a distinguished physical oceanographer and professor of geophysics at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. The collection documents some highlights from Munk's scientific career, and some of the subject areas where he was an influential theorist, including wave forecasting and acoustic tomography. Walter S. White (1917-2002)
Walter S. White was born in 1917. Between 1933 and 1936 he attended San Bernardino High School. White worked for six months in 1937 for Harwell H. Harris followed by an eight month term in Rudolf Schindler’s Los Angeles office during 1937-1938. After working with Schindler White worked for Allen Rouff for six months between 1938 and 1939. Between 1939 and 1942, White worked for Win E. Wilson for two years and six months, helping to plan and design prefabricated war housing with a skin-stressed plywood panel system. Walter S. White (1917-2002): Miles C. Bates house
The Miles C. Bates house by Walter White in Palm Desert, California is also known as the "wave" house for its uniquely shaped roof. The house blends the curving roof lines, reminiscent of the nearby mountains, with glass walls and indoor/outdoor living. The house was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wantok Niuspepa
Wantok Niuspepa is the only Tok Pisin language newspaper in Papua New Guinea. Started in 1970, it is published weekly by the Christian-based Word Publishing Company and distributed throughout the country on Thursdays. Wantok contains news and information on health, education, politics, and community projects. Also notable are the letters, cartoons, and advertising found within the newspaper. Wantok is recognized for contributing to the orthography and normalization of Tok Pisin throughout Papua New Guinea. Issues were digitized from microforms held at the University of California and made freely available with the permission of Word Publishing Company Limited.

War Relocation Authority Photographs of Japanese-American Evacuation and Resettlement
The War Relocation Authority (WRA) records represent the official documentation of the United States agency created to assume jurisdiction over the Japanese and Japanese Americans evacuated from California, Oregon, and Washington by the Western Defense Command, the Fourth Army, and the Wartime Civilian Control Administration (WCCA) during January/February of 1942. During its existence from March 1942 to 1946, the WRA controlled the administration of the relocation centers, administered an extensive resettlement program, and oversaw the details of the registration and segregation programs.
