The Annie R. Mitchell History Room contains a wide variety of local history materials relating to Tulare County and the San Joaquin Valley. A diverse collection of audio and video is also represented in this collection. These include oral histories with local residents, presentations on local history, and recordings of dedication ceremonies for local landmarks.

California Revealed is a State Library initiative to help California’s public libraries, in partnership with other local heritage groups, digitize, preserve, and provide online access to archival materials - books, newspapers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and more - that tell the incredible stories of the Golden State. We also provide free access and preservation services for existing digital collections for partner organizations with in-house digitization programs. Collection of Tulare County Local History Photographs
Tulare County Library's photograph collection includes images of historical interest of Tulare County from the mid 1800s to 2000. Images document Tulare County Residents, Buildings, Homes, Libraries, Mountain Scenes, Celebrations and Activities, Agriculture, Sequoia Natl. Park, Floods, Business and Merchants, Schools, Street scenes, Railroads, and Recreation. Of particular interest are a group of 50 glass plate negatives taken by George David Smith, portrait photographs of local World War I soldiers, and a group depicting various activities of the Tuberculosis and Health Assoc. of Tulare County.

Shades of Tulare County Photograph Collection
The "Shades" project is a collection of digital copies of more than 300 photographs provided by the Chinese and Japanese residents of Tulare County. Spanning the decades from the late nineteenth century until the present day, these images are a representation of the history and heritage of the Chinese and Japanese residents of Tulare County. Photographs of farm life, early businesses, athletics, the Visalia flood of 1955, the Japanese relocation camps, and family groups are just some of the varied elements of this collection.
