1910 Los Angeles International Aviation Meet Research Collection
The first international aviation meet (air meet) in America was held on Dominguez Hill in 1910. Aviators from America and France, including the Louis Paulhan, Glenn Curtiss, and Roy Knabenshue, piloted their planes, balloons, and dirigibles past thousands of spectators. A group of local and aviation historians formed the 1910 Los Angeles International Aviation Meet at Dominguez Flying Field Committee to create a comprehensive repository of materials about the 1910 meet, as well as the meets held in 1911. California Revealed is a State Library initiative to help California’s public libraries, in partnership with other local heritage groups, digitize, preserve, and provide online access to archival materials - books, newspapers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and more - that tell the incredible stories of the Golden State. We also provide free access and preservation services for existing digital collections for partner organizations with in-house digitization programs. California Revealed is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

California State University, Dominguez Hills is located in Carson, a city in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County. Conceived in 1960 to serve the booming postwar population of the South Bay area, the institution opened as California State College, Palos Verdes in 1965, with classes held on the second floor of a bank building. The college soon moved, first to the temporary Watt Campus, and finally to a permanent site on Dominguez Hill, land which was once part of the historic Rancho San Pedro. CSU Japanese American Digitization Project
This collection, generated by a consortium of CSU Archives, features documents, oral histories, photographs and other materials relating to the incarceration of Japanese American during World War II. Touching on a wide range of topics, many camps, the effects of the earlier Alien Land Acts and other topics, the CSU collections bring together disparate local collections into one website to form a collection of national importance. The CSU Japanese American Digitization Project was funded, in part, by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Japanese American Confinement Sites Grant Program. James Osborne South Bay LA & California Postcard Collection
This collection includes photographs, postcards, ephemera, and memorabilia gathered by James H. Osborne, a resident, educator, and historian of Los Angeles County's South Bay. Osborne's family has lived in the South Bay since the end of the 19th century, and he has been an enthusiastic collector of all things related to his home region. The collection contains photographs showing everyday life in the region, often offering candid images of citizens attending major events, or dealing with hardships such as the devastating 1933 earthquake. Long Beach Fireman's Historical Museum Photographs Collection
This collection contains negatives and photographic prints documenting the history of the Long Beach Fire Department. It includes images of the department from its formation in the early 20th century to 1971. Images focus upon department personnel, apparatus, fires, and fire prevention. Also includes photographic prints and negatives which illustrate the history of the city of Long Beach, including documentation of the March 10, 1933 earthquake and major oil fires, disasters, historical buildings, social events, and everyday life. The full collection contains over 9000 items, of which approximately 5000 have been selected to display on this site.

Rancho San Pedro Photograph Collections
The Rancho San Pedro, located in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, was one of the original Spanish land grants. This collection illustrates the history of the Rancho, along with that of the Dominguez family and its heirs, who owned the entire Rancho from 1784 through the middle of the twentieth century, and who continue to manage some of the land to the present day. South Bay Digital Collection
This collection features images from cities and sites around the South Bay of Los Angeles County. The vast majority of the land was part of the Rancho San Pedro, one of the original Spanish land grants, which in its original form stretched from San Pedro Harbor northward to the modern to the modern cities of Gardena, Carson, and Compton, bounded on the east by the Los Angeles River, and extending westward to the Pacific Ocean. Tradeswomen Archives Project Collection
This collection includes photographs and documents from the Tradeswomen Archives Project, which helps document the growth of the number of women working in construction and other non-traditional fields in Southern California, nationally, and around the world. The Project comprises both traditional physical archives, which are housed at CSU Dominguez Hills, and a digital archive consisting of virtual donations received through a web portal.
