The University Archives preserves UCI's historically significant records. Beginning with the founding of UCI in 1965, the University Archives holds materials that document the planning and growth of the campus, the development and administration of academic and administrative programs and services, faculty concerns, student life, and community relations. In addition to records created in the course of campus business, such as correspondence, memoranda, minutes, reports, plans, charts, and topical files, the University Archives also contains photographs, maps, posters, newsletters, yearbooks, brochures, video and audio recordings, and a variety of other materials.

Asian American Studies protest video (University of California, Irvine)
This collection consists of a video in 3 parts of a UCI student protest that occurred in April 1993 concerning the absence of an Asian American Studies Program. Over 200 students rallied outside the administration building (Aldrich Hall) and then marched inside. The video contains news coverage, footage of the rally, protest and march, and student interviews. These efforts led to the creation of the UCI Department of Asian American Studies within the School of Humanities.

Audio Recordings collection (University of California, Irvine)
This collection consists of a variety of audio recordings of events and activities at the University of California, Irvine from 1955 to 1991. Events recorded include the Student Parent Orientation Program, faculty lectures, recordings of symposia and forums, Arts and Lectures series, convocation and commencement ceremonies, as well as early campus building dedication ceremonies and athletic events.

Beginnings of Activism for the Department of Asian American Studies (BADAAS) at University of California, Irvine collection
This collection consists of 21 oral histories from the Beginnings of Activism for the Department of Asian American Studies (BADAAS) at University of California, Irvine project. BADAAS was a group created by the chair of the Department of Asian American Studies, Dr. Judy Wu, and Dr. Thuy Vo Dang, director of the Southeast Asian Archive for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Department of Asian American Studies. They assembled a group of interns to research the history of the creation of Asian American Studies on campus and conducted oral histories with the professors, staff and faculty members, activists, and former students …

Blackburn (Iyanna) documentary, "The 2%: Navigating UCI as a Black Student"
Contains one documentary film entitled, "The 2%: Navigating UCI as a Black Student" (2020). The documentary was directed and produced by Iyanna Blackburn (class of 2022), a third-year double major in Film & Media Studies and African American Studies at the University of California, Irvine. The documentary focuses on the perspectives of Black students at UCI. Students share personal experiences of what it is like to navigate the UCI campus, given that the Black student demographic on campus is less than two percent. The documentary was produced while Blackburn was an intern at Anteater TV.

Cancian (Frank) Photographs for Main Street UCI
This collection consists of photographs taken by University of California, Irvine anthropology professor emeritus Frank Cancian from 2009-2011 at the Ring Mall on the UC Irvine campus. The photographs, consisting of more than 3000 images taken over seventy-five sessions, document campus life at UC Irvine, featuring images of student life, celebrations, rallies, protests and demonstrations, vendor activities, religious activities, food sales, dance and other performances, campus scenes, and organizations. Cancian compiled the photographs into a project and exhibit entitled "Main Street UCI." More information about Main Street UCI may be found at http://sites.uci.edu/mainstreetuci/.

Collection on the Anteater Mascot and Other University Symbols (University of California, Irvine)
This collection is comprised of material related to the University of California, Irvine mascot, the Anteater. Included is an audio oral history interview with Schuyler Hadley Bassett, who is credited with taking up the successful campaign to elect the anteater as the mascot. It also includes images of Peter the Anteater and drawings of proposed mascots from 1965.
