The Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) has provided free and equal access to information, education, innovation, and community since 1896. For over 125 years, LBPL has grown to encompass 12 unique library locations across our diverse city and we continue to provide access to essential services and amenities that enrich our neighborhoods and empower our visitors.

California Revealed from Long Beach Public Library
California Revealed is a State Library initiative to help California’s public libraries, in partnership with other local heritage groups, digitize, preserve, and provide online access to archival materials - books, newspapers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and more - that tell the incredible stories of the Golden State. We also provide free access and preservation services for existing digital collections for partner organizations with in-house digitization programs. California Revealed is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.

Long Beach Photos
The Long Beach Photo Collection focuses on the history of Long Beach, California. The collection contains over 100 years of Long Beach-related images, some of which have never been seen publicly before. The collection includes photos from the Winstead and Inman Companies, Shades of Long Beach Program, City Photographer, Parks and Recreation Department, and hundreds of images from private citizens and organizations.
