The Television Academy Foundation was founded in 1959 as the charitable arm of the Television Academy with the goal of shaping the art of creating television by engaging and educating the next generation of television professionals. Today, the Foundation pursues this goal through scholarships, internships, career development programs, outreach to university faculty, and the in-depth oral history of television housed in The Interviews: An Oral History of Television.

The Interviews: An Oral History of Television
Since 1997, The Interviews: An Oral History of Television has recorded over 900 one-on-one conversations with individuals who have made a significant impact on television – both in front of and behind the camera. The interviews are conducted in a life-history format, starting with the subject's early years and influences. The conversation then moves into their major television work, and concludes with the subject's thoughts about his or her craft, as well as advice to aspiring professionals.
