The Bancroft Library is the primary special collections library at the University of California, Berkeley. One of the largest and most heavily used libraries of manuscripts, rare books, and unique materials in the United States, Bancroft supports major research and instructional activities and plays a leading role in the development of the University's research collections.

Breen (Patrick) Diary, Nov. 20, 1846 - Mar. 1, 1847
The diary of Patrick Breen was recorded between November 20, 1846 and March 1, 1847. At the time of the diary's composition, Breen and his family were part of a group of pioneers--which came to be known as the Donner Party--completing an overland journey from the Great Plains to California. The diary documents the harsh environmental conditions and hardships endured by the party, and ends on the day of arrival of a rescue party.

Chiefly campaign posters from the 1935-1936 British elections and post-war election in 1945. The 1935 posters are from both Labour Party and National Government and were collected in 1935-1936 by Professor Charles Aikin of U.C. Berkeley. To these have been added, from an unknown source, other British political posters that are believed to date from 1945. Both Liberal and Conservative posters are present....

Buildings of the California Wine Association, ca. 1898 - Views
The Views of Some of the Buildings of the California Wine Association Collection contains 25 photographic prints dating from circa 1898. The subject matter primarily consists of views of the exteriors and interiors of the Greystone Winery including the main building, the cellar master's residence, distillery, storage areas, fermenting room, etc. Views of the Uncle Sam Cellar and Brown Street Cellar in Napa City are also included.
