The Oakland History Center is an important center for the study of the history and current development of the East Bay. Its collection contains a wide variety of materials relating to the history of Oakland and the larger Bay Area, including books, magazines, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, photographs, postcards, sheet music, trade catalogs, and scrapbooks.

California Revealed is a State Library initiative to help California’s public libraries, in partnership with other local heritage groups, digitize, preserve, and provide online access to archival materials - books, newspapers, photographs, audiovisual recordings, and more - that tell the incredible stories of the Golden State. We also provide free access and preservation services for existing digital collections for partner organizations with in-house digitization programs. Downtown Property Owners Collection
The Downtown Property Owners Association Collection contains images of downtown Oakland storefronts and other commercial buildings from the late 1920s to the late 1950s. This collection of photographs was commissioned by the Downtown Property Owners Association whose mission was to promote business and real estate development in the downtown Oakland area.
