Robert L. Wyckoff, a Glendale attorney and medical doctor, explained that he decided to run 'to give the voter an opportunity to vote for a conservative, rather than for identical candidates like Richard Nixon and Pat Brown.' Wyckoff said neither he nor his party now calls for prohibition of liquor but only for stricter control of liquor sales."
