Photograph caption dated August 17, 1950 reads, "Deputy Sheriff Walter Shorn examines damage to home at 1931 South Rosemead boulevard after explosion knocked it off the foundation, split walls and broke windows. Two occupants were uninjured. Firemen believe gas had accumulated under the house while William Ferguson, 80, and his daughter were vacationing."
