Photograph article dated October 28, 1960 partially reads, "There's a strong echo of the past in campaign statements coming out of the 57th Assembly race. While other Valley campaigns are beginning to reflect the issues and accusations of the presidential debate, Charles J. Conrad and Charles Manfred are talking about controversies that once flared brightly but have dimmed in recent months. The reason for this campaign's angry look backward is that the contest itself is not new. Twice before Democrat Manfred has tried to unseat Republican Conrad. In 1958, Manfred lost by 908 votes, but meantime the Democratic registration has edged over the halfway mark to 50.5 per cent." Pictured is Charles Conrad.
