Description
Photograph of a view of California's first oil refinery in Pico Canyon, at Newhall, ca.1940. The refinery stands, a complex brick structure composed of tanks, pipes and smoke stacks atop a small hill. In front of it, to the left, sits what appears to be a wooden box or cart. Behind the refinery sprout the arms of several trees. Several structures can be vaguely made out in the arborous distance.
