Acting quickly to prevent possible flood damage in the Altadena brush fire region, CCC youths are pictured scattering seed for rapid-growing mustard plants over the scarred areas north of Altadena. Working under county and federal forestry officials, 75 CCC workers are spreading 12,500 pounds of mustard seed over the 2400 seared acres. Because of the recent rains, the seed will sprout rapidly and will provide temporary protection against erosion. In other burned areas workmen are digging out basins to catch storm debris.
