"Schwester Stolz mit Kindern, Br. Kootz u. Br. Böhme[,] Kretschmers u. Tante Adami." ("Sister Stolz with children, Br[other] Kootz a[nd] Br[other] Böhme[,] Kretschmers a[nd] Aunt Adami."). In the background on the left and right two houses. In the foreground two rickshaws, one pulled by a donkey and the other by an African, eight Africans, two European men, four European women and five European children. One European raises his hat while shaking hands with another European in the rickshaw.
Additional information on the second copy: "[...] und Schw. Adami" ("[...] and S[ister] Adami"). -- Adolf Ferdinand Stolz (1871-1917) was a mission trader of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine in Ipanya from 1898 to 1902 and in Kyimbila from 1903 to 1914. He was responsible for the plantations in Kyimbila and Rutenganio. In 1898 he married Helene Elisabeth, née Kootz (1872-1899), in 1903 Anna, née Schulze. -- Johannes Kootz (1869 -1918) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. As a young recruit with Meyer he built up 1894 Rutenganio and Ipyana station, 1895 Utengule station. Here he served as an assistant to Missionary Richard in Utengule from 1895 to 1897. In 1897 till 1915, with a vacation from 1903-1906, he was head (Vorsteher) of the station. In 1894 he married Elise, née Kretschmer (1870 -1946). Together with his wife Elise Kootz-Kretschmer and Msaturwa Mwachitete he assembled much material concerning the Safwa. She continued the academic work concerning the Safwa after returning to Germany. Ernst Emil Böhme (1870-1938) was a mission artisan of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served from 1900 to 1903 as head of the joinery, as building foreman from 1903 to 1905 in Kyimbila, from 1905 to 1907 in Isoko and from 1907 to 1909 in Rutenganio. Until being interned in 1916 he was head of the station in Ipanya. In 1907 he married Emma, née Gründel. -- Johannes Kretschmer (1867-unknown) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served in Rungwe from November 1892 to 1894, in Rutenganio from 1894 to 1902 and from 1904 to May 1916. In 1894 he married Anna, née Wicke. -- Paul Gustav Adami (1880-1956) was a mission trader of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served in Kyimbila from 1904 to 1908 as employee and from 1908 to 1915 as procurator and business manager.
