Description
"Sophia u. August." ("Sophia a[nd] August."). The picture shows an old woman and an old man of African origin. Both sit. The woman's head is covered with a white scarf. She wears a dotted skirt, a dark shirt, a checkered pinafore and a checkered scarf around her neck. Next to her on the right a man holding a hat and a stick in his hands. He wears a dark jacket and dark trousers. Behind them a fence of wood and wire probably surrounding a small garden. Next to it on the right stairs. Imprinted on the image: "1731."
The picture was taken in the Western part of South Africa.
