Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Santa Monica Beach looking north, ca.1915. The curve of the shore is pictured at left, meeting the ocean and littered with beach shacks, moving towards the mountains in the background. A set of rail road tracks and a road, possibly the Pacific Coast Highway, separate the beach from the adobe houses and commercial buildings to the right. Behind these, a non-adobe rancher-style home can be seen on the summit of a nearby hill. Legible signs from left to right read: "Richfield", "Canyon Pharmacy", "Crescent KI Cream" and "Groceries".
