Description
Officials stand silently at rekindling of "flame of memory" at the Simon Wiesenthal Center on "Yom Hashoah," or Holocaust Remembrance Day. Standing at center is Neal Sher, Justice Department war crime investigations director; at far right are honorees Romauld Chmura and Willy Lindwer. Rites were held across the nation and in Israel. Meanwhile, construction of the Los Angeles Holocaust Monument was starting in nearby Pan Pacific Park. Photo dated: May 3, 1989.
