Photograph caption dated February 13, 1965 reads, February 13, 1965 reads, "The Volunteer League of the San Fernando Valley will hold its annual Day at the Races Feb. 19 at Santa Anita. Members, their husbands and guests, will leave from the employes' [sic] parking lot at Fashion Square, Sherman Oaks, at 10:30 a.m. Preparing for event are, from left, Mmes. W. Wallace Modglin and Clyde H. Potter Jr., Northridge, and William Megowan, Encino, with horse, Bea. League members will be in the 'Winner's Circle' to make the presentation to the winner of the race bearing the league's name. Mrs. Sidney Gilmore is event chairman. The league's projects for this year are the Out-Patient Clinic at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Junior Programs, Museum Alliance Docent Committee, Welfare Information Service, Valley Historical Committee and Valley State Art Council."
