Description
In this open letter to his agent, Sid Gold, Alan Reed makes a detailed, passionate defense of his American patriotism, explaining his involvement with liberal organizations and activities that could be construed as communist in nature. In the process, he discusses his Jewish heritage, his family life, and his opinions about communist activism in the United States and the Hollywood Blacklist that was growing in length as a response. The final section includes a lengthy treatment of his falling out with fellow actor John H. Brown. He makes reference to Appendices A and B, versions of which can be found separately in this digital collection.
