Description
Photograph of a view of the Incline Railway starting point among the trees in Rubio Canyon (Mount Lowe), [s.d.]. A circular metal beam runs diagonally across the foreground. A flight of stairs leads up to a picnic area (resting area?), where there are several benches and tables. A fallen tree creates a minor obstacle between the stairs and the picnic area. The only visible sign reads: "climbing the canyon walls is dangerous to life and property and will not be permitted". Graffiti found on the trees read: "help", "ML, ER, RF, MP, FR, FT", "ET, EW, AR, FW", "ABC, CS, John", "[...]worth L.A., J.B., R.J.U.A., EP, Jan. 7, 1899".
