Description
Ray Flanders, Victor York, Alf Parker, and Jack Swain all worked in various capacities in the Whittier oil industry in the early 1900s. John Arcadi's father, Antonio Arcadi, moved to Whittier from the east to work in the oil fields in 1906. They discuss the Sansinena well in La Habra Heights, which was the first well drilled in the area in 1896. They mention the holdings of various oil companies operating in the area such as Central, Standard, Turner, and Union. They also discuss the beginnings of the oil industry in Santa Fe Springs and families that profited financially. The interviewer is LoVerne Morris.
