Description
Monte Wicker was born in 1919 and died in 2016. He was a former Whittier councilman and longtime owner of Monte’s Camera, still in operation by his sons in Uptown Whittier as of 2017. Wicker graduated from Whittier High in 1934, attended several colleges, including Whittier College, and served in the Army during World War II. Wicker was among the businessmen who founded the Whittier Uptown Association in 1954. He was elected to the City Council in 1962 and served three four-year terms.
