Darryl Zanuck, left, production head of Twentieth Century-Fox Studios, receives the 1948 gold medal of the George Washington Carver Memorial Institute from Dr. Clarence Dykstra, provost of U.C.L.A., in ceremonies held to honor Zanuck for his efforts on behalf of the welfare of society as well as for his movies.
