Photograph caption dated January 16, 1962 reads, "David Main, 2 1/2, adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Main of Sylmar, recites the pledge of allegiance for his mother after being sworn in as an American citizen. His mother reports that David, who was brought here two years ago from a Korean orphanange [sic], is one of the youngest aliens in Los Angeles to become a U.S. citizen."
