Description
1989-1320. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 45. In foreground see the top of a car; in middle ground are two houses, a complete one on the left and one on right is cut off by photo; left house is 2 floors with basement level; a porch is cut out of the 1st floor in the shape of a large round arch; on porch by the entrance sits a man; to left of porch is a bay window structure with 3 rectangular windows, surmounted by a strip of stucco decorations; on 2nd floor a faux balcony design separates it from 1st floor; two rectangular windows on 2nd floor on left are surmounted by a circular window with stucco beneath a triangular roof line. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Home of C.K. McClatchy in 1894...until.1911. Torn down later in 1938..."
