Photograph caption dated January 10, 1934 reads "Princess Barbara Hutton Mdivani, above, Woolworth heiress to $50,000,000, today was making last minute preparations to sail tomorrow for Japan in the royal suite of the Tatsura Maru, but without her prince, Alexis Mdivani. Prince Alexis is in Seattle evading a subpena [sic] to appear at the trial of his two brothers here on grand theft charges. He will join the princess in Japan."
