Johnny Longden, aboard Noor. Known as "The Pumper," Longden was the only person in throughbred history to win the Kentucky Derby as a trainer and jockey. His final ride came in 1966 at Santa Anita, when he steered George Royal to a photo-finish victory before 60,729 fans; the dramatic farewell, which gave Longden 6,032 career wins, has been voted the greatest moment in Santa Anita history. He died in 2003. Photograph dated July 24, 1950.
