This is a photograph of Fr. McLoughlin and a small boy passing a banana between them. The boy wears a uniform. Father has a pipe. They are warmly dressed. Rev. McLoughlin was born in Lancashire, England, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1912. He entered The Venard, Maryknoll's Apostolic College, in 1923, and was ordained in 1935. He was assigned to Wuchow, remaining there throughout the was years. After a brief visit to the U.S. after the war, he returned to Wuchow in 1947. He was expelled from China in 1951. In 1953 he was assigned to Transfiguration parish in Chinatown, New York City, and to Hong Kong in 1961 where he died in 1980.
