Description
William Gibbs McAdoo at Sacramento's Southern Pacific Railroad Station, November 1932. Gibbs was a Progressive Era politician and served as Secretary of the Treasury under Woodrow Wilson. This photograph dates to his campaign for the United States Senate against Republican opponent Tallant Tubbs and Prohibition Party candidate Robert Shuler. He won the 1932 election and represented California in the United States Senate until 1938.
