Description
This April 4, 1928, photograph shows the storefronts of several businesses on North Sixteenth Street. They occupy the William Ward Seed Company building, built in 1925. Located across from the Sacramento Produce Terminal, the 30,000 square foot structure was constructed to house the company’s seeds as well as provide office space for its administrative wing. Ward specialized in onions, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, beets, seed peas, and seed beans. Building tenants included the offices of R.W. Faulkner, a produce broker, at 221 North Sixteenth Street, the North Restaurant at 227 North Sixteenth Street, and the Western Union Telegraph Company at 233 North Sixteenth Street.
