Photograph of an aerial view of the Plaza in Los Angeles looking from Fort Moore Hill, ca.1873 (no later than 1875). The anterior side of the Plaza Church ("Pueblo Church of Nuestra Señora de Reina de Los Angeles") can be seen at the center of the frame, identifiable by its filigree-decorated bell tower, that stands at the right. Los Angeles' first water-works is visible in the square beyond it, housed in a brick building. Homesteads spaced more widely apart can be seen among the trees past the plaza in the distance. A picket fence cuts from left to right in the frontmost foreground of the image.
