Description
Photograph caption dated September 26, 1956 reads, "Mrs. Helen Davis and sons Carl, 15, and Ray, 14, dig deep into mine in backyard of their Kagel Canyon home. They are among more than 200 families clustered in foothill canyon above San Fernando, pursuing off-beat pastimes. Most of residents fled nerve-straining city life for peace and quiet of tree-shaded Valley canyon." See images 00147348 through 00147354 for all photos in this series.
