Description
A full-length studio portrait of two men, one of whom is James De Barth Shorb (the one on the right?). Shorb is wearing a light-colored suit, and is seated on a low "wall", resting his right elbow on a decorative pillar. The man on the left is wearing a dark suit, and is standing behind the pillar, with his left hand behind Shorb's back. Shorb has a full head of gray hair and a wide salt-and-pepper mustache, while the man on the left has a very high forehead and a full salt-and-pepper beard and mustache.
"Taber" and "Elevator, 8 Montgomery Street, Opposite the Palace and Grand Hotels, San Francisco" printed below the image. Date range based on the years that I.W. Taber and later Taber Photographic were at the 8 Montgomery address, based on San Francisco directories.
