Air Tankers of Van Nuys Airport made practice drop of 500 gallons of borate chemical mixture during training exercise of Los Angeles City Fire Department held Thursday in a remote area of Santa Monica Mountains near Mulholland drive and Topanga Canyon boulevard. Practice runs served to train 35 fire department officers in working out problems of effective direction of tanker drops on brush fires. The airplanes are A. J. Planes are used to aid fire fighters in remote areas of Santa Monica Mountains and in Angeles and Los Padres Forests."
