Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
The ceremony commemorated Hollywood's first major film production, "The Squaw Man," which was filmed in the buliding and produced by the Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company, consisting of Cecil B. DeMille, Samuel Goldwyn and Jesse Lasky. The barn and former studio building was originally located at 1521 Vine Street, then was moved to Paramount Studios lot in the 1920's, where it spent the next 55 years. After a preservation effort, the barn was to its current, permanent site across the street from the Hollywood Bowl, and it is now open to the public as the Hollywood Heritage Museum.
Photograph caption dated December 29, 1956 reads, "DeMille 'Barn' Becomes Cal. Landmark -- Samuel Goldwyn, C.B. DeMille, Jesse Lasky and Leo Carrillo."
