Description
Richie Valens, Pacoima, Los Angeles, 1985. Pacoima Junior High School, exterior middle of campus, Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Kagel Canyon Street, Pacoima. Portrait and memorabilia associated with the late rock 'n roll singer/songwriter. There are several other murals at the school. One, also by Valezquez, is called Working Together and shows pages from a school yearbook blown-up. Two other murals (artists unknown) are of the school's panther mascot (1967-1969) and the Aztec sun god (early 1970s). Acrylic, by Manuel Velazquez. Sponsored by Community Youth Gang Services.
