Description
View of Thūpārāma with the lower part of the brick dome of the Padhalāñchana Stūpa in the foreground. The Thūpārāma comprised a stūpa and monastic complex. It was the very first stūpa built in Sri Lanka. The original shape of a paddy heap was changed to a bell-shape during the restoration. Basal: diameter 59 feet (18 meters). Four concentric circles of pillars had earlier supported a roof over the stūpa.
