Description
This black and white winter image of a town depicts a dilapidated church with some surrounding ruins and rubble. A man leads to horses in front of the church, toward the right side of the picture.
This image is an example of one of the 2,000 Underwood & Underwood images produced during and shortly after WWI. Probably, the image was acquired by Underwood photographers active in Western Europe in 1914 and 1915.
Because the image does not appear to have a copyright date, one cannot be absolutely sure as to its exact historical context.
